2023 is rapidly drawing to a close. It’s been a very busy fall season.  As usual I’ve spent a considerable amount of time outdoors hiking and biking taking photographs along the way and then trying to create some interesting paintings from the photos. I try to stay fairly true to the source photo, but I’m not interested in making the painted image photographic.

I attended a workshop led by Tim Saternow in Waitsfield during the summer and experimented with splattering paint. The instruction was excellent, and I’ve been continuing the experiment in my recent work. “Iron and Bricks ” was the painting that resulted from the three-day workshop.

and I was very excited to have my painting, “Beacon Street Lacework” accepted into the prestigious New England Watercolor Society Regional Open Watercolor Exhibition being held at Slater Memorial Park,831 Armistice Blvd, Pawtucket, RI October 4th till November 2nd.

Since then, I’ve demonstrated the grisaille, splash, and splatter technique to the Vermont Watercolor Society at their fall membership meeting and luncheon. I also demonstrated for the Saxtons River Art Guild at their fall meeting and then ran a workshop for them as well.  I also lead a workshop for the Vermont Watercolor Society Southern Hub.

Vermont Artisans Designs is continuing to promote my work.  I have many paintings on display and for sale as well as notecards and limited edition Giclee prints. I’ve set up my paints in their front window again this year and spent the evening demonstrating painting and answering questions from many of the interested shop patrons and folks passing on the street who stop in to simply observe. These were very fun experiences and look forward to doing this again in the future.
